With dedicated attack, release, ratio, input, and output controls, you’re not stuck with a one-size-fits-all squeeze; you dial in exactly how much control you want over your low end, from a light touch that just smooths peaks to a locked-in, studio-tight response for slap or aggressive picking.
MXR built this pedal around Constant Headroom Technology (CHT), which keeps your tone from thinning out or losing punch as compression kicks in. That means your bass still sounds like your bass—big, round, and full—even when you’re pushing the ratio hard. True bypass wiring keeps your signal clean and unaffected when the pedal’s off, so there’s no tone loss sneaking into your chain.
Ten gain-reduction LEDs give you a real-time read on how much compression is happening, so you can set your levels by eye on a dark stage instead of guessing. The aluminum housing is light enough to not weigh down your board but tough enough to survive load-in after load-in, and the compact footprint won’t eat up valuable pedalboard real estate.
This bundle includes two 6″ patch cables, so you can wire the M87 into your signal chain right out of the box without a trip to the cable drawer.
