Description
Schecter’s J-4 Exotic pulls from classic J-bass territory but dresses it up with some genuinely nice woodwork and active electronics. The body pairs a swamp ash core with a zebrawood top under that Faded Vintage Sunburst finish, giving you a lightweight bass with visible grain character instead of a plain slab.
The bolt-on neck is roasted maple reinforced with carbon fiber rods for extra stability, cut in a Thin ‘C’ profile that sits easy in the hand across the 34″ scale. Roasted maple carries over to the fretboard too, with 21 Narrow X-Jumbo frets, 3-piece block inlays, and Luminlay glow side dots for finding your way around a dim stage. A Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut and 16″ radius round out a neck built for fast, comfortable playing.
Under the hood, the SS pickup configuration comes courtesy of EMG Metal Works—an LJ at the bridge and SJ at the neck—wired to master volume, blend, and 2-band active EQ controls for shaping tone on the fly. The Schecter High Mass bridge supports either string-thru or top-load setup, and black hardware keeps the look cohesive with Schecter’s lightweight tuners and knurled metal knobs.
