Description
Left-handed five-string basses that don’t feel like an afterthought are hard to come by, and the Schecter Omen Extreme-5 LH is one of the good ones. The mahogany body carries an arched top capped in flamed maple, finished in a deep gloss Black Cherry with creme multi-ply binding wrapping the edges — it looks as good under stage lights as it plays.
That extra scale length (35″) gives the low B real definition instead of the flabby, undefined thump you get on shorter-scale five-strings. The maple neck wears a thin C profile, so even players with smaller hands can get around 24 X-Jumbo frets comfortably, and the rosewood board with abalone and pearloid vector inlays keeps things classy without getting flashy. A Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut and 2-way adjustable truss rod mean setup stays predictable over time.
Power comes from a pair of Schecter Diamond Bass pickups wired to a simple volume control — no active EQ to fuss with, just plug in and dig in. There’s a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment on board as well.
