Description

If you’ve fought string-spacing headaches on a soapbar-loaded 5-string, the ASB-5N Phase I is Seymour Duncan’s fix. The split-blade design keeps every string sitting evenly in the magnetic field, so you’re not chasing a hot B or a dead G depending on where your fingers land.

Tonally, this is the neck half of the Phase I active soapbar set – moderate output with a traditional, round low end and a natural top end that stays detailed instead of harsh. It’s the kind of voice that sits well in a mix without needing a ton of EQ correction, whether you’re slapping, fingerstyle, or digging in with a pick.

Drops in as a direct replacement for Bartolini P2 and P4 loaded basses, so swapping this in doesn’t mean reshaping your pickup cavity. Pair it with a Seymour Duncan STC-2 or STC-3 Tone Circuit if you want more shaping control on tap, though it’ll run fine on its own too. Logo covers, mounting hardware, and wiring hardware are all included, and on a fresh 9V it’ll run roughly 1,000 hours before you need a swap – plenty of gigs and rehearsals before battery anxiety sets in.

  • Active neck-position soapbar pickup for 5-string bass
  • Split-blade design corrects string-spacing inconsistencies
  • Warm, traditional voice with detailed, natural highs
  • Direct replacement for Bartolini P2 and P4
  • Pairs well with STC-2 or STC-3 Tone Circuits
  • ~1,000 hours battery life per set
  • Includes logo covers plus mounting and wiring hardware
