If you’ve been running a 5-string EMG 40 soapbar and want off the active bandwagon without sacrificing output, the Seymour Duncan Phase 2 NYC bridge pickup is built as a direct drop-in for that exact footprint. It’s a passive dual-coil J-type design with a double row of exposed Alnico 2 pole pieces, wired with four conductors so you’re not locked into one sound.
- Series wiring: high output, thick and punchy, full low end for a fingers-forward attack
- Parallel wiring: slightly fatter single-coil voice that’s still hum-cancelling

This is the bridge unit specifically, built for 74mm string spacing (measured center of low B to center of G string) — check your instrument before ordering, since the matching neck pickup uses a narrower 70mm spacing.
