Description
If you play a Stingray or anything wired like one, the STC-3M4 is the drop-in preamp upgrade that gets your low end doing exactly what you want on stage. This is Seymour Duncan’s 4-knob Music Man Tone Circuit, fully pre-wired and ready to mount, giving you independent bass, treble, and midrange controls alongside a master volume knob.
- Treble side stays articulate and open without ever turning harsh or icy
- Bass response digs in deep while staying tight and defined, not muddy
- Midrange sweeps from silky-smooth to aggressive and punchy
- Push/pull slap switch built into the volume knob for instant EQ contour switching
- Two onboard trim pots let you dial in your own slap voicing and lock it in
That slap switch is the real party trick here — pull up on the volume knob and the circuit shifts into a contour voiced specifically for slap technique, no stomping on pedals or reaching for a different bass required. Set the trim pots once to your taste and it’s there whenever you need it.
This preamp is purpose-built for Stingray basses but drops into any bass with a single passive pickup, room for 4 knobs, and a 9V battery cavity. Wire two 9V batteries in series if you want extra headroom. Everything needed for install is included: high-quality pots on the harness, battery clip, stereo jack, mounting hardware, and black anodized knurled dome knobs.
Pair it with Seymour Duncan’s Music Man-style replacement pickups for a full electronics overhaul. One important note: this circuit is designed around a standard 2-coil Music Man pickup and will not function correctly with a 3-coil Sterling-style pickup.
