Description
Short scale doesn’t mean short on tone. This Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass Special SS takes Fender’s offset Jaguar shape and shrinks the reach to a 30″ scale, so the neck sits closer under your hand without sacrificing the deep, woody thump bassists actually want to feel. The agathis body carries a slim, fast “C”-shaped neck with 20 medium jumbo frets and a 9.5″ radius rosewood board — comfortable for long sets and quick position shifts alike.
Tone-wise, you get two distinct voices working together: a split single-coil Precision Bass pickup in the middle for that punchy, midrange growl, and a Jazz Bass single-coil at the bridge for snap and bite. Independent volume controls for each pickup plus a shared master tone let you blend anywhere from round P-Bass warmth to aggressive J-Bass edge, or run them together for a fuller, more complex low end. It’s a genuinely versatile pickup pairing, not just a novelty combo.
Chrome hardware, a standard 4-saddle bridge and open-gear tuners keep things solid and gig-ready, while the black-painted headstock and black Jazz Bass control knobs add a bit of visual contrast against the Candy Apple Red finish. Strung from the factory with Fender USA NPS strings (.040-.095), it’s ready to plug in and play.
