Description
There’s a reason StingRay tone shows up on stages everywhere, from Motown revivals to modern funk and metal – it just sits right in the mix. The RAY34 brings that formula down to earth without watering it down. Sterling builds these with lightweight solid swamp ash bodies, giving you punchy lows, honest mids, and highs that cut without getting brittle. Bolt on a maple neck (rosewood board on this Natural finish) and you’ve got the backbone for that classic cutting-but-round StingRay voice.
Under the hood is a Music Man-designed humbucking pickup paired with an active 3-band preamp, wired just like its USA-made big brother – bass, mid, treble, and volume knobs that respond the way you expect them to. Whether you’re locking in a pocket at low volume or pushing a preamp for stage volume, this bass gives you the headroom to shape your tone rather than fight it.
The 6-bolt neck joint is a Music Man design used across the whole Ray series – it clamps the neck down tight so your tone transfers cleanly without shift or slop, even under heavy playing. Add open-gear tuners, a spoke wheel truss rod for easy adjustment, and a bridge with stainless steel saddles, and you’ve got a bass that’s built to hold up to gig-bag life.
