The Xotic Bass BB Preamp isn’t trying to be an effect that colors your sound beyond recognition – it’s built to make your bass sound like more of itself, only bigger. Turn the gain knob up a touch and you get added presence and push for a clean tone that cuts through a busy mix. Keep turning and you’ll move through subtle break-up territory into a smooth, saturated distortion. The key thing bassists notice: the low end holds together through the whole range, with up to 30dB+ of boost on tap so there’s plenty of headroom no matter how hard you dig in.
Version 1.5 brings a few practical updates for gigging players. The DC jack has been relocated to the top of the enclosure, which makes for tidier cable routing on a crowded pedalboard. The pedal now also accepts anywhere from 9 to 18 volts DC, giving you flexibility depending on your power setup. And those new white “Top Hat” knobs aren’t just cosmetic – they’re genuinely easier to see and grab under dim stage lighting mid-song.
True bypass switching keeps your signal clean and unaffected when the pedal’s off, so it stays out of the way until you need it.
