Description
Every bassist knows the tradeoff: haul a heavy full-stack for tone, or grab something light and settle for thin sound. The ELF 1×8 Combo refuses that compromise. It pairs the tiny, 1.6-pound Trace Elliot ELF amp head with a purpose-matched 8″ speaker cabinet, so you get that unmistakable Trace low-end character in a box you actually enjoy carrying to the gig.
At the heart of it is a fan-cooled amp pushing 200W RMS at 4 ohms (130W at 8 ohms) — plenty of headroom for stages, jam rooms, and studio dates. The controls are simple but purposeful: a wide-range input gain with signal-level indicator keeps you out of clip territory, while the 3-band rotary EQ recreates the response of Trace Elliot’s classic multi-band graphic filters, letting you dial in that thick, articulate low end without a mixing-desk’s worth of knobs.
Passive pickup players get a real benefit here too — the preamp’s input impedance sits above 10 mega ohms, so your tone stays full and sensitive right off the bat, no buffer needed. When it’s time to go direct, the post-EQ balanced XLR DI with ground lift sends your dialed-in Trace tone straight to the house PA or a recording interface, skipping the mic’d-cab guesswork entirely. Need to work out parts quietly at home? The 1/4″ headphone output has you covered, and an external speaker output means you can expand your rig when the room calls for more air.
At just 17 pounds total, this is a combo built by bass players, for bass players who’d rather spend their energy on the music than the load-in.
