The EMG J HZ takes the familiar Jazz bass voice and pushes it further into the low end. Instead of standard single coils, EMG stacked ceramic-loaded coils inside each pickup — a design choice that boosts low-frequency response, raises output, and cuts down on hum, all while keeping the passive feel you’re used to on the fingerboard.
What you get on the strings is tight, punchy mid-range paired with a high end that still cuts through a mix without turning brittle. Harmonics ring out clean and articulate, giving the tone extra dimension whether you’re locking into a groove live or laying down tracks in the studio. Fretted or fretless, this set adapts well to both, delivering a full, dependable sound night after night.
