Description
Not every gig needs a stack. The PF-20T packs genuine Ampeg tube character into a head small enough to tuck under your arm, powered by a 12AX7 preamp duo and 2x 6V6 output tubes that push out 20 watts at 4 or 8 ohms. That’s plenty of headroom for coffeehouse sets, studio dates, or woodshedding at rehearsal, without the weight of a vintage flip-top.
Dial in your low end with dedicated Bass, Mid, and Treble knobs plus an Input Gain stage that lets you push the tubes into that natural, slightly gritty Ampeg breakup when you want it. A Pre/Post EQ switch on the line out gives you control over whether your recorded or house-mixed signal carries your tone shaping or stays raw, and the transformer-balanced output means you can run straight to a board with confidence.
Ampeg also built in some smart engineering touches: no speaker load is required to safely operate the head, so you can test tubes or dial in tone without a cab connected. A user-adjustable bias control keeps maintenance in your hands rather than a tech’s, and a ground lift switch helps kill hum in noisy venues.
Pair it with a PF-112HLF cabinet for the classic Portaflex flip-top rig in miniature, or run it into whatever 4 or 8 ohm cab you’ve already got.
