Description
If you’ve ever wished you could carry your Ampeg rig in your pedal bag, the SCR-DI is the closest you’ll get. This isn’t a generic DI with an EQ slapped on — it’s built around real Ampeg preamp and tone-stack circuitry, so you can dial anything from a round, thumpy Portaflex vibe to the growl of an SVT pushed hard. This unit is open box and graded mint, so you’re getting full Ampeg tone at a better price point without giving up performance.
The 3-band EQ alone gives you serious shaping power, and the Ultra-Hi and Ultra-Lo switches let you carve out extra sparkle or sub-weight when a song calls for it. When you want more bite, flip on the Bass Scrambler overdrive — it’s a footswitchable circuit built to replicate that SVT-style grind and sag, with independent drive and blend knobs so you can keep your low end intact while adding grit on top.
On the back end, the SCR-DI is set up to handle both stage and studio duties: a balanced XLR out with ground lift for a clean front-of-house feed, an affected 1/4″ output, and an unaffected 1/4″ thru for your amp. There’s also a 1/4″ headphone jack and 1/8″ aux input, making it a genuinely useful practice rig you can throw in your gig bag and use anywhere.
Housed in a die-cast zinc chassis with metal switches and rubber feet, it’s built to survive load-in, load-out, and everything in between.
