Description
If you’ve ever wanted your J Bass to hit harder without losing that snap and clarity, the Bartolini B-Axis J44J-L/S set is worth a serious look. Rooted in Bartolini’s original 1970s HI-A design, this set has earned respect from working bassists and luthiers alike for its combination of punch, articulation, and harmonic depth that just feels more alive under your fingers.
Each pickup uses exposed Alnico V pole pieces in a fully encapsulated build, and the dual in-line coil design cancels hum without sacrificing that open, dynamic response. Everything is passive, so it drops right into your existing setup, and the coils are cast in epoxy to kill unwanted feedback and microphonic noise – handy when you’re standing in front of a loud stage rig.
This is a matched L/S set: a ‘long’ pickup for the bridge and a ‘short’ for the neck, mirroring the real-world size difference found on original J-Basses. The neck pickup measures 3-5/8″ and the bridge pickup measures 3-3/4″ – before you order, double check the size of the pickups currently in your bass so the replacements sit right in the routes.
- Built for 4-string Bass Guitar
- Standard J Bass pickup shape
- b-axis series construction
- Dual In-Line coil type (hum-cancelling)
- Tone character: huge, punchy
Whether you’re chasing more low-end authority for a studio session or need a Jazz Bass tone that cuts through a busy mix live, this set gives you room to dig in.
