Description
Every band needs somebody holding down the bottom, and the M44CBC-B is built to make sure that job feels effortless. This is Bartolini’s M4 Soapbar-shaped pickup, sized for the neck position at 4.00u2033 (101.60mm) long by 1.50u2033 (38.10mm) wide, and it’s part of the “Classic Bass” (CB) lineup u2014 passive pickups voiced for a wider, more resonant frequency window than typical vintage-style units.
What you’ll notice first is the low end: powerful, full lows and low-mids that give your notes actual weight on stage, whether you’re locking in with a kick drum or carrying a song on your own. The dual-coil design keeps things quiet and hum-free, so that bottom stays clean instead of muddy or noisy through a loud rig.
The top end doesn’t get lost in the process, either. Classic Bass pickups are designed to breathe u2014 more air and note definition up top u2014 so your lows stay dominant without smothering pick attack, string slap, or the natural brightness players expect from bright treble response. It’s a balance a lot of soapbar pickups struggle to nail.
Each unit is cast in epoxy, a detail that matters more than it sounds: it locks out unwanted feedback and microphonics, which is exactly what you want when you’re standing in front of a stack at gig volume.
