Description
Fives shouldn’t feel cramped, and the L-1000 Series 750 fixes that with genuine 3/4″ (19mm) string spacing at the bridge — the same spacing Leo Fender used on his four-string designs. G&L pulled this off with the new “Wide 5” Saddle Lock bridge plate, which fits five of the identical saddles found on G&L four-strings into a wider footprint. Bassists have nicknamed this one the “Widebody Wunkay,” and once you see the curvier take on classic Fender Avenue body lines, you’ll understand why.
Under the hood is a new MFD humbucker built with the largest footprint G&L has put on a bass pickup yet, engineered specifically to keep that B string tight and harmonically clean instead of turning to mud. The neck carries on the vibe with a slim, rounded profile, a true dual-action truss rod, and twin graphite rods for stability under tension — practical stuff when you’re gigging a wide neck night after night.
Details borrowed straight from 1980 keep this bass feeling like a proper CLF: the early hook headstock, chunky CLF machined knobs, the sweeping control plate, and a three-position mini-toggle that unlocks coil options including the famous L-1000 “OMG” mode.
