EMG engineered these active pickups with a low resistance-to-inductance ratio, so the bottom end fills out and stays tight instead of getting flabby or boomy on stage. The radiused ceramic bar magnets keep the mids punchy and let the highs come through clean, giving you a modern, wide-open tone that still nods to that vintage J-pickup character bassists have chased for decades.
Because they’re active and low-noise by design, you get a quieter signal path and more headroom to push your amp without fighting hum — whether you’re tracking direct in the studio or standing in front of a wedge at a loud gig.
