The American Performer Mustang Bass takes the vibe of the original ’70s design and updates it with pickups and hardware that actually hold up on a modern gig. If you’ve ever wanted that woody, midrange-forward Mustang growl but with tuning stability you can trust under stage lights, this is the bass.
At the heart of it is a pair of Yosemite pickups built in Corona: a split-coil in the middle voiced for that classic Mustang push, and a single-coil Jazz Bass pickup at the bridge for snap and definition. Blend them and you’ve got a surprising range of tones out of a body that’s genuinely built to be gigged, not babied.
The alder body keeps things light on your shoulder over a long set, while the Modern “C”-shaped maple neck with a satin back lets your hand move without drag. A 9.5″ radius fingerboard and 19 medium-jumbo frets make bends feel natural rather than forced, and the 30″ scale keeps the reach comfortable whether you’re standing all night or tracking in a session.
