Description
Short scale doesn’t mean short on attitude. The American Performer Mustang Bass gives you that easy, close-to-the-body feel players love for long sets, paired with a pickup combo that covers way more ground than the compact body suggests. The Yosemite split-coil in the middle position pulls from the original ’70s Mustang Bass drawings for that thick, slightly gritty low end, while the Yosemite single-coil Jazz Bass pickup at the bridge adds growl and definition when you need the note to cut through a mix.
The alder body keeps things light on your shoulder, and the “Modern C”-shaped maple neck with a satin-finished back moves fast under the hand, especially with 19 medium-jumbo frets that make bends and slides feel natural rather than forced. A 9.5″ fingerboard radius keeps chords and fills comfortable across the rosewood board.
Under the hood, the Greasebucket tone circuit lets you dial back highs without that circuit turning your tone muddy or soft – so rolling off treble for a rounder sound doesn’t cost you presence. Tapered-shaft tuning machines keep string windings tight for better sustain and tuning stability, and the string-through-body, 4-saddle bridge design locks in intonation while adding to the sustain.
