If you’ve spent years chasing that GK growl through a rig, the PLEX puts it under your foot. Gallien Krueger took 47 years of amp-building knowledge and packed it into a pedalboard-friendly preamp that doesn’t just approximate the tone u2014 it’s built on the same active 4-band “variable Q” EQ and Contour circuit that’s defined GK bass tone for over three decades, now with expanded filter options for even finer control.
What sets PLEX apart is how every knob does double duty. Push in the bass knob and you unlock stacked levels of low-end bump for extra thump when a song calls for it. Press the low-mid knob to scoop out mids for that classic hollowed slap tone. Dial out finger noise and string clack with the hi-mid/hi-cut function, or press the treble knob for a presence boost that airs out a dark-sounding bass or cab. A blue LED lights up whenever one of these hidden functions is engaged, so you always know exactly what’s shaping your signal.
Beyond EQ, PLEX carries foot-switchable compression (with adjustable level, threshold, ratio, attack/release, and a gain reduction meter) and overdrive with variable drive and volume across multiple symmetry and voicing options u2014 so you can sit deep in the mix or cut right through it. A built-in chromatic tuner with a large LED display keeps you honest between songs.
No amp on the gig? No problem. Run the 1/4″ output straight into a power amp or instrument amp input, or send the balanced XLR DI (with ground lift and Pre/Post switching) to the PA or console. Aux In and a headphone output let you woodshed silently along with a mix, while USB in/out opens up direct digital recording and re-amping in your DAW. PLEX also supports GK MBP powered enclosures and includes an effects send/return for slotting in your other pedals.
