Description
Every bassist knows the struggle: crank a compressor enough to smooth out your dynamics and you lose the punch that made you dig into the string in the first place. The Mad Professor Forest Green Compressor was built to solve exactly that. It runs extremely quiet across its whole range and holds a high overload margin, so you’ve got room to play soft or slam the strings without adding hiss or grit to the signal.
What sets the FGC apart from a standard squeeze box is its switchable Compressor/Sustainer mode. Flip it to Sustain and the pedal preserves your pick or finger attack while amplifying the decay, giving you a touch-sensitive tone with sustain that keeps going. That makes it a natural for slide work and expressive lines where you want the note to bloom instead of just getting flattened.
The onboard Tone control lets you shape the compressed signal so it still sounds like your bass — dial it counterclockwise for full-range compression, noon for a tighter voice with slightly less low end, or all the way clockwise to tame excess top end.
- LEVEL: overall volume in Compressor mode (works as a boost too); adjusts sustained-signal level in Sustain mode
- COMPR: dials in compression/sustain amount — start around 10 o’clock and adjust from there
- TONE: fine-tunes the compressed tone for transparency
- Compressor/Sustain switch with internally set attack and decay times
- Supply voltage: 9–18VDC, 14mA draw at 9V
- Input impedance: 1M Ohm, Output impedance: 20K Ohm
- True bypass
This unit is open box and graded mint — fully functional, ready for the gig, at a lower price point.
