If your Jazz bass needs a bridge pickup that digs in on the low strings without turning muddy, the AJB-1 is voiced for exactly that job. Seymour Duncan pulled the mids back slightly and pushed a hotter, more focused output out of the low end, so notes on the E and B strings come through warm and articulate instead of getting lost. Paired against the matching active neck pickup, the two sit together evenly, giving you that classic punchy-yet-detailed Jazz bass balance whether you’re slapping, fingerstyle, or digging in with a pick.
Instead of individual pole pieces, this pickup uses blade construction, so it works across both 4-string and 5-string setups and handles string spacing up to 3.10″ (78.7mm) at the bridge. Keep in mind this is the traditional 5-string sized version – it won’t drop into a Fender Jazz V without modification.
Under the hood, a fully discrete 9-volt preamp keeps noise out of the signal while delivering low impedance output and real dynamic range, so your playing dynamics actually translate to the amp. Each one is hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA with a ceramic bar magnet and a 3-conductor lead wire for wiring flexibility.
