Description
For six-string players who want soapbars that don’t compromise on tone, the ASB-6 Phase I set delivers a balance most active pickups miss. Seymour Duncan built these to sit right between the snap of a modern active pickup and the woody warmth of a vintage passive one, so you get dynamics that feel true to your playing rather than pickups that impose their own character on top of it.
The internal split-blade construction is what makes the 6-string version work as well as it does — string-to-string balance stays even across the full width of the neck, which matters a lot once you’re past four strings and fighting for clarity on the low B or high C. Bass, mid, and treble come through in equal measure, whether you’re digging in with a pick, playing fingerstyle, or slapping.
An onboard active preamp pushes more output and presence than a passive pickup can offer, with only a light tonal coloring layered in — enough to add character without flattening the natural voice of your bass. Expect roughly 1,000 hours of continuous play per set on a battery.
- Direct replacement for Bartolini P2
- Pairs well with Seymour Duncan STC-2 or STC-3 preamps for added EQ control
- All mounting and wiring hardware included
If you’re after soapbars that stay honest across a wide tonal range and hold their own on stage, the ASB-6 set is built for exactly that job.
