Seymour Duncan reworked the coil geometry and winding on the SJ5N-67/70 specifically so that the warmth, growl, and articulate attack of a great ’62 Jazz Bass translate cleanly all the way to the low B — not just the top four strings.
Dropped into the neck position, this single coil delivers that vintage output most players chase: not overly hot, but full of nuance, with a midrange push that sits perfectly in a mix without stepping on the low end. It’s the kind of pickup that rewards dynamics — dig in and it growls, play light and it stays articulate.
This particular version uses the wider cover size found on modern Fender Jazz V basses. Got an older 5-string J-Bass? Look for the 70-74 model instead to get the correct fit. Comes fitted with a black cover, and pairs naturally with the 6770 bridge pickup if you want a matched neck/bridge set for consistent tone across the whole instrument.
