Description
Fuzz pedals have a reputation for turning to mud once you throw low end at them, but the Mastotron was built specifically to keep its composure while still sounding filthy. ZVEX gave this one a push/relax input impedance control that lets you dial in the front end for passive pickups all the way up to line level signals — meaning it’s just as happy tracking live bass as it is re-amping a DI’d bass track or fuzzing up keys after the fact.

The sub switch is the real trick here — instead of losing your fundamental to fuzz clipping, you get a say in how much of that bottom stays intact, so you can go from a snarling, gated growl to something thicker and more sustained without abandoning the low end altogether. Between the pulse width and depth controls, there’s a wider range of usable fuzz textures on tap than most silicon circuits offer, and the treble control keeps things from getting too dark when you push the gain hard.
Compact footprint at 4.70″ x 2.38″ x 1.82″, so it won’t eat up much real estate on a crowded board.
