That’s exactly what EMG founder Rob Turner set out to do with Geezer Butler starting in 2011: rebuild the growl and grit Geezer had in the earliest Black Sabbath sessions, then make sure it could survive a modern world tour without falling apart or picking up noise.
The result is the GZR-P, an all-solderless passive Precision bass pickup set loaded with Alnico 5 pole pieces and custom-wound coils. It’s a vintage-style design at its core, but built with the reliability a working bassist actually needs on stage night after night. Nothing fussy, nothing fragile — just a pickup that gets out of the way and lets the low end do the talking.
