Fender did something a little different with the Mexican Jazz Bass — instead of the short/long pickup pairing found on standard Jazz Basses, both positions use the same size coil. EMG built the MJ Set specifically to match that layout, so you’re not stuck retrofitting a standard J Set into a body that wasn’t designed for it. Under the hood it’s the same circuitry as EMG’s J Set, just reshaped to drop straight into your Mexican Jazz without modification.
What you get tone-wise is classic EMG active clarity: a low end that stays defined and controlled even when you dig in hard, mids that cut through a busy mix, and dead-quiet output thanks to the active electronics.
